
Nathalie Emmanuel (born in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England) is an English actor. Most famously, she is Missandei from the HBO television show, the fantasy Game of Thrones (2011). Nathalie was born in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England and was the daughter of a father who is of Saint Lucian as well as English descent, and the mother was of Dominican origin. Nathalie attributes her desire to become an actor from the beginning to her mother. The role she played was Young Nala at her role in the West End Production of The Lion King when she was aged 10. She made her debut on television by appearing in the role of Sasha Valentine in the teen soap-opera Hollyoaks (1995). Emmanuel made an appearance on the show from 2006 until 2010. Her characters' storylines featured prostitution as well as heroin addiction. Nathalie was the host of BBC Three's Web-sex What's the harm in the Web?, which examined online sexual behavior of the 16-24-year-olds across the UK. Her debut came as a film actress in the drama Twenty8 later that year. In 2011, she played Missandei in HBO's fantasy-drama series Game of Thrones. Her role in Game of Thrones was elevated to regular during the year 2015. In addition, she was Harriet, a character from the science-fiction genre in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials. FHM magazine named Emmanuel as 99th in their Top 100 Sexiest Females of 2013. She was also featured in the April editions of InStyle and GQ magazines.
