Keira Knightley

Knightley was born in London she was born in London, the youngest daughter of Will Knightley and Sharman Mcdonald. She was first spotted by an agent when she was just six years old. Then she began to work on commercials and television. The role she played was a small one as Sabe in the space opera Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999). Her breakout moment came when she played a tomboy footballer in the sports film Bend It Like Beckham (2002) which then went on to gain global stardom for playing Elizabeth Swann in the swashbuckler adventure series Pirates of the Caribbean, from 2003. Knightley was considered an exciting young star following her appearing on screen in Love Actually (2003). Knightley got her first Academy Award nod for Best Actress in 2005 for portraying Elizabeth Bennet, the heroine of the romantic historical novel Pride & Prejudice. The actress appeared in a myriad of additional period works with her character playing a complicated love passion on the screen in Atonement (2007), tastemaker Georgiana Cavendish in The Duchess (2008), as well as the socialite of the title from Anna Karenina (2012). In modern dramas, she portrayed an aspiring music student in Begin Again (2012) and a physician in Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit (2013). Knightley returned to historic film in The Imitation Game in 2014 when she received an nomination for the Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress. In 2018, Knightley played the writer Colette.
